Suisei — water and indigo — refers to a colour built rather than chosen. In traditional Japanese dyeing, the deepest blues were never made from indigo alone: the dye was layered, again and again, with a second, yellow-toned pigment, deepening with each pass until it reached a shade with no single name.
This triptych is built the same way: teal laid over brown, mist laid over a half-seen shoreline, a small boat that asks to be found rather than seen outright.
